Ms. Omidvar is the President of Maytree, a private foundation dedicated to reducing poverty and inequality in Canada. It has a special focus on accelerating the integration of immigrants and refugees so that they can contribute quickly and effectively to the public good. She is the founding Chair of the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council and serves as a Director of The Toronto City Summit Alliance.

She has been appointed to a number of taskforces, including the Transition Advisory Board to the Premier of Ontario in 2003 and to Prime Minister Paul Martin’s External Advisory Committee on Cities and Communities. She was awarded the Order of Ontario in 2006.
