Catholic Church To Do Something About All Those Pedophiles

Talk about closing the door after the horse already bolted...
The Catholic Church is launching a $1.6-million online program to teach its clergy how to root out and respond to pedophiles within their ranks. The program coincides with mounting concerns that countless new sexual abuse cases are about to emerge from Asia, particularly in the Philippines, the most Catholic country east of Europe. The program, announced at the end of a church-sponsored four-day conference on child abuse, aims to address the "culture of silence" that surrounds sex abuse scandals within the church and has led to pedophile priests merely being reassigned to other jurisdictions and duties instead of being charged for their crimes. Victims' rights groups are a little skeptical about the program, which will be multilingual and provide research on how to identify pedophiles and what to do with offending priests. Hmm. We always figured the answer to that would be "call the police immediately," but hey, every little bit helps?
