Breaking Down the $uper Bowl

Celebrating the one day where Americans spend more money on snack food than the country of Liberia makes in a single year.
As you might know, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots will be taking on the upstart New York Giants in Indianapolis on Feb. 5 in SUPER BOWL XLVI. While some of us were really pulling for a Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers matchup (well, truthfully, a Ravens vs. Green Bay Packers game, but that's one for the shrink's couch), Billy Cundiff and Kyle Williams have forced us to somehow cope with having to watch the world's greatest quarterback take on the biggest underdogs of the playoffs for a second time in five years. Madonna is also playing the halftime show, because if there's one thing all football fans like, it's fashion and pop-music icons whose cultural relevance peaked a quarter-century ago. Some are suggesting that the game could be the most-watched television event of all time. And thanks to the social-marketing minds over at TurboTax (Choose Easy!), we have a great infographic breaking down the game's massive economic impact. For example, Americans purchase $189.7 million worth of crackers for the game – more than for any other snack (including potato chips. We know, we're shocked too.) Also, men spend about $86.67 for the Super Bowl, while women spend about $56.66 for the game (although that difference is probably made up the week after for Valentine's Day). Anyhow, read on!
