Former Utah governor to join Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain on the sidelines ahead of the South Carolina primary.
Jon Huntsman, one of the two Mormon former governors in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, will be bowing out of the race this morning, according to numerous reports. Huntsman has served as both the governor of Utah and as ambassador to China, but his campaign was just about the only one in the Republican field (along with Buddy Roemer!) that never gained any traction among the Republican mainstream, for better or for worse. And with Stephen Colbert outpolling him ahead of the South Carolina primary on Saturday, Huntsman is set to throw in the towel and put his support behind Mitt Romney, the other Mormon former governor in the race. So here's to Jon Huntsman, whose chances of winning the nomination disappeared the second he tweeted, "To be clear. I believe in evolution and trust scientists on global warming. Call me crazy." And thousands of Republican supporters did.
