According to some reports, the punishment for inauthentic tears for Kim Jong-Il involves labor-training camps.
South Korea’s the Daily NK is reporting that North Korea is now punishing insufficient or insincere mourners following the death of Kim Jong-Il. According to the report, those who did not participate in the organized mourning events or who participated but did not cry or seem authentic are being sent to labor-training camps. The anonymous source also claimed that those who criticized the new leadership are being sent to re-education camps or banished to the countryside. North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency has denied the allegations. Meanwhile, the spectacle continues as reports have emerged that Kim Jong-Il’s body will be put on permanent display and his birthday will be called “the Day of the Lodestar,” a nickname the late leader shared with the long-range rockets he tested.
