Liberals Let Supporters Vote on Leadership

Non-members can vote, marijuana is legal, and the monarchy is good on the Roadmap to Renewal.
The Liberals agreed Saturday to allow non-members to help choose a party leader for the first time ever. To vote, interested people must now only declare their support of the party, be eligible to vote in Canada, and not be members of any other parties. The idea behind the controversial change, which passed with a two-thirds majority at the biennial Liberal convention, is to engage Canadians and expand the electoral base of the party after its crushing defeat. Critics warned that this could leave Liberals vulnerable to sabotage, or worse, devalue the party's $10 membership. Meanwhile, MP David McGuinty, Dalton's brother, said he was considering a run for the leadership job but would take some time to think it over.
Update: The Liberals have also voted to legalize marijuana and rejected a motion to cut ties with the monarchy.
