Obama Raised $200M For Re-Election Effort

Ah! So THAT'S what he meant by 'change.' Still waiting on the hope part, though.

So, eeeeeeverybody's been talkin' 'bout this race to determine the Republican party's presidential candidate, what with that pizza guy, that drunk-ish Texan, the unGoogleable former senator, and that one middle-aged white male straight out of central casting. Of course, whoever ends up winning the race (middle-aged white guy, in all likelihood) faces a much bigger battle in taking down President Barack Obama, who's quietly amassed more than $200 million in his campaign war chest over the last year. Obama's campaign manager says that the total surpassed their goals for the year, and that 98 per cent of all donations were for less than $250, pointing to a broad grassroots network of Americans putting their cash behind Team Blue. About $68 million of that $200 million was donated between September and Jan. 1, dwarfing the $24 million raised during the same time by middle-aged white guy. Team Blue is hoping to top the $750 million raised in 2008 by the November election.
