The Texas-based global intelligence agency, best known for its secrecy, is having a little bit of a security issue.
When Strategic Forecasting (Stratfor) was hacked by AntiSec over the weekend, we knew things were bad. Now thanks to Identity Finder, a data loss and security service, we know exactly how bad they are. Identity Finder reports that hackers have released the personal information of roughly 50,000 Statfor subscribers, which includes ordinary folk as well as the U.S. Army, Air Force, and Miami Police Department. 50,000 credit card numbers were released along with an estimated 86,000 email addresses, 27,000 phone numbers, and 44,000 encrypted passwords. More are expected to be released in the coming days as so far only subscribers with the first names A through M have been hit. Some reports claim Anonymous is playing a Robin Hood role in the incident, stealing money from credit cards to donate to charitable organizations like the American Red Cross. For now, the site is still down "for maintenance."
