U.K. Company Drops Canadian Client over Kyoto Withdrawal

In a strange twist, more businesses have been affected by pulling out of Kyoto than ratifying it.

A Quebec business is bearing the brunt of the Conservative government's decision to pull out of the Kyoto accord. According to La Presse, ThinkGlass, a company based in Boisbriand, Que., that specializes in making glass countertops, has learned that one of their main British clients, The Glass Factory, will no longer be buying from them because of the Kyoto decision. The Glass Factory's owner says that while he thinks very highly of ThinkGlass, his "conscience" forbids him from dealing with a country that "pollutes the planet at the expense of rest of the world." Now, it's not like Canada was doing a whole lot to lessen its carbon footprint while it was still a party to the Kyoto accord, and we're curious as to why The Glass Factory would take out their dislike of Canadian environmental practices on a company that professes to be eco-conscious. Let's just hope that this is where the boycott begins and ends, otherwise, whoo boy, talk about your unintended consequences.
