Female RCMP Officers Planning Class-Action Lawsuit

Tales of harassment from across the country have prompted at least 25 women to speak out against the Mounties.
More than two dozen female RCMP officers from across the country are joining together to file a class-action lawsuit against their employer over allegations of harassment, verbal, and sexual abuse. Lawyers say that they've heard from more than 25 female officers, both current and former, who want to add their names to the suit, which could soon be filed in a B.C. court. The suit follows revelations from former B.C. RCMP officer Cpl. Catherine Galliford that she's suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after years of facing sexual harassment at the hands of her superiors. Other officers in the suit say they've seen the same things happen to them and other female colleagues. The suit will be filed on behalf of one or two officers before a judge can certify it to become a class-action lawsuit.
