Poll of the Day: It's a good time to be a premier if you're a conservative, or, even better, a conservative woman.

Conservative premiers across Canada are faring markedly better than their more left-leaning counterparts, as a new survey shows that Saskatchewan's Brad Wall, Newfoundland's Kathy Dunderdale, and Alberta's Alison Redford are the most liked premiers in the country. The Angus Reid poll found that 71 per cent of Saskatchewan residents approve of Wall's premiership, while 60 per cent of Newfoundlanders approve of Dunderdale and 53 per cent of Albertans approve of Redford. On the other side of the spectrum, Quebec and Ontario's Liberal premiers, Jean Charest and Dalton McGuinty, fared the worst, with Charest landing just 26 per cent of support and McGuinty nabbing 38 per cent after winning a third term in October. Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath was found to have 53 per cent support among Ontarians, while Francois Legault, the leader of the newly formed Coalition for the Future of Quebec, outpolled Charest by 19 points. Opposition leaders in both British Columbia and Nova Scotia – the NDP's Adrian Dix and Progressive Conservative Stephen MacNeil, respectively – are also polling ahead of incumbents as the year wraps up.
