Charges stem from a youth hockey game in Massachusetts last week.
Mike Milbury, who rivals Don Cherry in the level of delightful boneheadedness displayed on Hockey Night in Canada, is reportedly facing charges for assaulting a 12-year-old boy in Massachusetts. Milbury, who spent 12 seasons on the Boston Bruins' blueline before coaching them to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1990, allegedly shook a kid who played for a team that was facing off against a Boston-area youth hockey team for which Milbury is an assistant coach. The kid in question reportedly was fighting against Milbury's own son on the ice. The New England Sports Network reports that Milbury will be charged with assault and battery on a child, threatening to commit a crime, and disorderly conduct. We're awaiting word on whether he will face additional charges for basically killing any hope for the New York Islanders ever being a competitive team again after drafting Rick DiPietro first overall in 2000 and trading away Zdeno Chara and a first-round draft pick that would be used to select Jason Spezza for some bum named Alexi Yashin. (As such, Milbury holds a special place in all Ottawa Senators fans' hearts.)
