Climate change leading to more severe food shortages .

Aficionados of cute things have been left scrambling this week after an environmental photographer captured an image of a polar bear devouring a bear cub. Photographer Jenny Ross was in Olgastretet when she found the adult bear trapped ashore. Though the bears normally survive by eating seals, she says the recent retreat of the Artic sea has made this nearly impossible in the summer. With a shortage of food, the bears are turning to all sorts of alternative meal options, including other endangered species. A Canadian polar bear scientist teamed up with the photographer to publish related findings and study the phenomenon which they say will only occur more often as the ice melts. Thanks a lot, climate change.
