The world of sport was rocked by a number of scandals, disasters, and injuries, from Sidney Crosby’s concussion to the Vancouver hockey riot to the sex abuse scandal at Penn State University. At the same time, athletes continued to push the boundaries of their sports, with Anthony Calvillo making a case for being the CFL's best-ever quarterback, while Major League Baseball had its most exciting end to a season ever.
