Iran Claims Responsibility for U.S. Drone Crash

Well, at least nobody was hurt.

The Iranian government is claiming responsibility for felling an unmanned aerial drone operated by the U.S. military over the weekend. Al Jazeera reports that Iran managed to bring down the RQ-170 drone through the work of "armed forces, air defence forces and its electronic warfare unit," after it flew over the Iranian-Afghan border. Iran says it has recovered the drone, which officials said was slightly damaged in the crash. U.S. officials are so far admitting that they lost a drone last week, but said that UAV operators merely "lost control" of the craft instead of it being taken down. Regardless, it's one of at least three American drones that Iran has claimed to have brought down this year, including one in the Persian Gulf and one near the city of Qom.
