The World Cup - in Winter?

It makes a lot more sense when summer temperatures can top 50 C.
Support is growing for a plan to move the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to the winter instead of its usual summer billing, due to the fact that it gets really freaking hot outside in the Gulf state during the summer. Average June temperatures in Doha, Qatar, are around 34 C – not exactly the kind of conditions conducive to playing 90 minutes of outdoor soccer. Michel Platini, the president of UEFA, the organizing body for soccer in Europe, said he would gladly rearrange the the scheduling of European club soccer to accommodate the world's biggest tournament. Adjusting the European club schedule would free up the world's marquee players to head to Qatar for the tournament without missing matches – kind of like how the NHL stops games for two weeks during the Winter Olympics so that their players can compete internationally.
