Iceland still waiting for rest of world to recognize how quirkily awesome Iceland is.
Iceland has become the first Western European country to recognize Palestine as a state after passing a motion in parliament that recognizes the Palestinian Liberation Organization as the legitimate representative of all Palestinians. The motion calls on the international community to confirm Palestine's borders as those from before the 1967 war, and for Palestinians living in Israel to be guaranteed the right to return to the country. Palestine is also recognized as a country by most South and Central American countries, much of Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe, and Russia. (An aside: Iceland was also the first country to recognize Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia after they split from the U.S.S.R. in 1991. They were also the first to recognize the greatness that is Bjork.)
