Occupy Montreal the only remaining site in a major city yet to be ordered out.
Police have entered the Occupy Toronto encampment at St. James Park but have so far refused to forcibly evict the protesters, although they've reportedly warned the Occupiers that their time is up. The officers have tagged and photographed each tent as they begin to tear them down. Most protesters have started leaving, but a core group remains in the park. Some have even chained themselves to the inside of the yurt that's become the camp's library. The same can't be said of the Occupy Ottawa camp, which police raided early this morning, arresting eight and taking down all the temporary structures in Confederation Park. They were issued $65 tickets for trespassing on city grounds during prohibited hours. Occupy Vancouver disbanded from their spot in front of the provincial courthouses after being told they couldn't occupy that site. After which they briefly tried out a park in East Vancouver where they debated where to set up a more permanent location, perhaps in idyllic Stanley Park. The protesters apparently spent the night at a hall in the city's east end. Occupy Montreal remains in its original location of Victoria Park, and have yet to be served eviction notices. Mayor Gerald Tremblay recommended the protesters decamp now so that they can leave with their honour intact, but they've apparently not taken the mayor up on his offer.
