Occupy Toronto, Calgary Served Eviction Notices

Showdown between protesters and police looms as midnight deadline approaches.
The City of Toronto has served the Occupiers at St. James Park an eviction notice telling them to get out of the park by midnight. The Occupiers have politely declined the offer, and have instead asked for more supporters to come and "defend" the encampment. The eviction notice follows police in New York booting out the Occupy Wall Street protesters early this morning and the tearing down of camps in Oakland, Halifax, and London, Ont. City officials in Calgary have also served their resident protest with an eviction notice with a deadline of tonight. A handful of Toronto city councillors have signed a letter calling on Mayor Rob Ford to delay the eviction until after council has a chance to discuss the matter, which is slated to happen on Nov. 29.
