Is It DD/MM/YY, or MM/DD/YY?

According to one Tory MP, let's just split the difference by putting the year first.
So, is tomorrow 01/11/11, or 11/01/11, or something else altogether? If one Conservative MP has his way, the age old dispute (in Canada, at least) over whether we should write it dd/mm/yy or mm/dd/yy could finally be over. Daryl Kramp has introduced a private member's bill that if passed would mandate that all evidence in court cases is dated as yyyy/mm/dd, setting some sort of official standard of how to date in Canada. Americans tend to go with the mm/dd/yy, while the U.K. goes with dd/mm/yy. Somewhere in between the two, as with many other cultural touchstones, is Canada, but Kramp's proposal could slowly see us shift toward the format embraced by the European Union and the UN. Now, for us to figure out the far more confusing matter of how to properly date members of the opposite sex...
