Beautiful beaches, perfect weather, the foul and rotting remains of a brutal dictator ... what isn't there to see in Misrata?
Well, you can add the putrefying corpse of Moammar Gadhafi (alongside Cannes, Beirut, the Greek Islands, and Ibiza) to the list of sites to see along the coast of the Mediterranean. Four days after taking a bullet to the head, the deposed and deceased leader of Libya remains in state alongside his son Mo'tassim and his army chief ... in a market freezer in Misrata, to which hundreds of Libyans have flocked from all around to see with their own eyes the remains of the hated leader. Lineups stretching for hours are greeting those wanting to check out Gadhafi's thoroughly dead body, which has been denied the traditional Islamic rite of being buried within 24 hours of death. And while the freezer was meant to preserve his corpse, the constant stream of visitors means the freezer door has been opened hundreds of times, letting warm air in each time. Needless to say, Gadhafi's corpse ain't what it used to be, and attendants are now handing out surgical masks to hide the stench of the decomposing body. Meanwhile, the National Transitional Council says it will open a probe to determine just how Gadhafi was killed and whether anyone broke any laws doing so.
