2012 Presidential Election

Rick Perry Still Not Convinced by Obama's Birth Certificate

That sound you just heard was Mitt Romney laughing all the way to the GOP candidacy.

Rick Perry, the governor of Texas and Republican presidential candidate hopeful, says in an interview that he's still not sure whether President Barack Obama's birth certificate is authentic. While talking with Parade magazine (wow, what's next, Rick, National Enquirer?), Perry said that he has "no reason to believe" that Obama wasn't born in the U.S., but added he doesn't have a "definitive answer" on whether Obama was born in the U.S. rather than Kenya or Indonesia or somewhere else, as was intoned by billionaire real-estate mogul/one-time wannabe politician Donald Trump earlier this year. To be fair, it's not like Perry brought up the subject in the interview, and he didn't call to see the certificate outright. But by offering his suspicions over its authenticity, his hopes of challenging Mitt Romney and Herman Cain to be the GOP's presidential candidate have probably been snuffed out as fast as the hopes of a death-row inmate in Texas awaiting clemency from the governor.
