Safety concerns and issues with the coaching staff officially make the Triumph Toronto's worst pro sports team. And that's saying a LOT.
The future of the Toronto Triumph, Canada's first lingerie football team, is up in the air after the team lost 20 of its 26 players over safety issues. Sixteen players walked out on the team last week after expressing their concern over the equipment the team was using, such as hockey helmets instead of football helmets and kids' shoulder pads. They also doubted the abilities of the team's head coach and offensive co-ordinator. The team also didn't have a medical staff, despite football – even of the lingerie variety – being just about the most physically gruelling sport on the planet. The 16 decided to resign after another four, including Krista Ford, the team's captain and niece of Mayor Rob Ford, quit over the treatment of women who didn't make the team. The Triumph have only played one game so far in the Lingerie Football League, but without a full roster, the league's foray into Canada – they plan to start five more teams in Canada next year – could end a little prematurely.
