Move along, Ontarians, nothing for you to see here.
It’s a big night in Whitehorse, Yukon (in case you weren’t sure which Whitehorse we meant.) Tonight, the city’s Yukon Arts Centre will host the Western Canadian Music Awards for the first time, recognizing the best music from the Yukon territory as well as Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. The awards show will honour its 2011 Hall of Fame winner, 54-40, and last year’s Best Aboriginal Recording winner Leela Gilday is scheduled to perform. Winners will be announced in roughly two dozen categories including an International Achievement Award and Francophone Recording of the Year. The annual event will be streamed live online at 8pm Sunday.
