Chinese Tot Hit by Vehicles, Ignored by Pedestrians, Dies

Two-year-old Wang Yue succumbs to brain failure a week after a video of her injuries sparked international outrage.

Wang Yue, the little girl who was caught on camera getting hit by two vehicles and being ignored by 18 passersby in southern China, has died from her injuries. Wang was two years old. On Oct. 13, a surveillance camera in Foshan, Guangdong province captured the incident on tape, which was soon handed over to local news channels. While the drivers of the two vehicles have since been arrested, the video of her getting run over prompted anger across China directed at the apathy of the people who walked by the bloodied child. Wang's father said he had received donations from people around China and Chinese ex-pats around the world to help pay for her treatment, but she ultimately succumbed to brain failure today.
