The Manitoba MP accomplished quite a bit in his nearly 30-year political career, such as being the first MP to ever have a website.

Winnipeg South's former Liberal Member of Parliament Reginald Alcock died Friday at the age of 63. The first MP to launch an official website back in 1995, he was known as one of the most technologically savvy of Canadian politicians (a shallow pool, admittedly) and worked to make governments both more accountable and more technologically efficient. After publically criticizing Chrétien and urging the party to bid him adieu, Alcock became a cabinet minister in Paul Martin’s government. He also taught at both the University of Manitoba and Harvard, and played a key role in establishing Winnipeg’s Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
