T. Rex Even Bigger, Scarier Than Originally Thought

The king of the dinosaurs weighed about a third more than we thought, and ate a LOT of other dinosaurs to get there.
The most fearsome predator of all time, the Tyrannosaurus rex, was even bigger than previously imagined, as researchers have determined that the dinosaur weighed at least 30 per cent more than they had figured the reptile king would have. American and British researchers used new computer models to determine the weight of five specimens, and found the largest, Sue, whose remains are on display at Chicago's Field Museum, would have weighed nine tons – three more than what was previously thought. The researchers conclude that, to get to that weight, the T. Rex would have eaten enough to gain five kilograms in mass each day in adolescence – the equivalent of eating a duck-billed hadrosaur every day. And you thought human teenagers had an appetite ...
