Newfoundland and Labrador Vote Today

Oh, and the Yukon, too.
Voters in Newfoundland and Labrador head to the polls today as Kathy Dunderdale's Progressive Conservatives appear set to return to power. It's the province's first election since popular former premier Danny WIlliams retired, but Dunderdale has kept support for the PCs high ahead of the vote, priming her to become the province's first ever elected female premier. The Tories currently hold 43 of the province's 48 seats. The NDP and Liberals have been battling it out for second place, and if the NDP manage to form the official opposition, leader Lorraine Michael could turn St. John's into the most female-heavy provincial capital in the country.
And on the extreme geographic opposite of the country, residents of the Yukon are also set to vote, with the Yukon Party also hoping for a third straight majority. Leader Darrell Pasloski looks to build on his party's 10 seats (there are 18 in the Yukon legislature), unless the Liberals and New Democrats have something to say about it. The Newfoundland and Yukon elections are the fifth and sixth so far this month, following Prince Edward Island, the Northwest Territories, Manitoba, and Ontario, all of whom returned incumbents to power.
