Air Canada strikes back. Literally.
It’s the good news we’ve all been waiting for: Air Canada employees will be in a position to strike by Thursday, Oct. 13. The airline’s 6,800 flight attendants have once again voted down a tentative deal reached between the Canadian Union of Public Employees and Air Canada management. This is the second time flight attendants have rejected a deal negotiated by their own union primarily over issues of wages, pensions, and working conditions. Air Canada reps say in the event of a strike, the airline will operate on a partial schedule and will allow people to change their flight dates should their flights be cancelled (how considerate of them). Ottawa has already said it will not allow a long strike and is ready to introduce back-to-work legislation should it be needed.
