But heart problems and seizures come in so many sugary flavours!
After considering a variety of proposals, Health Canada has finally made its decision on energy drinks. The agency will limit their caffeine to 180 milligrams per drink, roughly equivalent to a cup of coffee. (Isn't caffeine kind of the point?) Drinkmakers will also be required to include a warning label not to mix the drinks with alcohol. An earlier panel of Health Canada experts called for a much lower limit of 80 milligrams per drink, and pushed to have the drinks banned, restricted to pharmacies, or sold only to those over 18. Roughly 84 million energy drinks are sold annually in Canada, with a large share of those bought by teenagers. Coffee: Just do it.
