NDP MP Wants Commission on Sports Injuries

Puts Tories in awkward position of having to choose between pro- or anti-brain.
A New Democratic Party MP will introduce a private member's bill that will call on the federal government to launch a commission to study how to reduce concussions and other injuries in sports. With the head-injury-plagued NHL set to drop the puck on a new season, Glenn Thibault will try for a second time to get his bill passed through the House of Commons. It calls for a conference of federal and provincial health and sport ministers, doctors, and sports figures who would discuss how to reduce injury in pro sports. Since no one in the House is likely pro injury, this bill might actually get some due consideration from the governing party, even if it does look like the NDP has picked up on the fine Liberal tradition of trying to solve every problem with a commission or a conference of some sort. But injuries are pretty terrible (ask Sidney Crosby or Taylor Fedun), so, sure, do what you gotta do, MPs!
