The movie that no one asked for could start production as soon as next year.
All too predictably, the movie rights to a forthcoming book on Russell Williams, the killer colonel, have been sold. David A. Gibb's Killer: The Shocking Double Life of Canadian Air Force Colonel Russell Williams, due out next week, will be turned into a film as early as next year after Richard Lowry Productions Inc. purchased the rights to it. Last year, Williams, at the time a rising star in the Canadian Forces, pled guilty to killing two Ontario women, including one under his command at Canadian Forces Base Trenton, as well as two sexual assaults and a string of deviant break-and-enters around the Ottawa region. One of Williams' sex-assault victims has since filed a $7-million lawsuit against the former colonel and the Ontario Provincial Police for her ordeal.
