Police Say They Have a Suspect in NHL Banana Incident

... and Wayne Simmonds pays it forward by allegedly using a gay slur against another player. Great times for the NHL.

Police in London, Ont., say they have the name of the person who is believed to have thrown a banana peel at a black Philadelphia Flyers player during a preseason NHL game last week. While the police haven't released the suspect's name, they say that a few people in the stands have come forward with the same name, and that they're investigating whether to lay charges in the incident against Wayne Simmonds. The banana peel drew all sorts of negative attention to the city and its hockey fans, and likely means London won't be hosting another NHL game anytime soon. In other hate-related hockey news, Simmonds has now been accused of calling New York Rangers pest Sean Avery a gay slur during a preseason game last night. Simmonds denies he said it. So it goes.
