No Satellites Fell on Alberta

An aspiring filmmaker was just punking journalists à la War of the World.

Remember that time on Friday when the falling NASA satellite was said to have crashed into a farmer’s field near Calgary? Apparently, the false report came from budding filmmaker Sebastian Salazar, who just wanted to see if citizen journalists were paying attention. On Friday, he posted photos and updates on Twitter from his account, @imnotgonnalie2u, suggesting that the satellite crashed into an Albertan farm. Despite the blatant Wellesian references to Reporter Carl Phillips and Wilmuth farm, many apparently took his tweets seriously with journalists across the world expressing concern about debris in Alberta. The actual satellite fell into the Pacific Ocean off the West Coast.
