Neil Young gets a book deal, hopes it will teach the children well.

Neil Young, a man who really doesn't need a dependent clause to describe who he is, is in the midst of writing his autobiography, which is tentatively slated to be released next fall under the title Waging Heavy Peace. Young has signed a deal with Blue Rider Press to pen his memoirs, in which the Toronto-born, Winnipeg-raised folk rocker hopes to take a page from his novelist/journalist father. Considering Young's talents for spinning a yarn, the book ought to be highly readable if relatively devoid of the hard-partying rock star antics revealed in the memoirs of Keith Richards, Nikki Sixx, and the like (dude's been married to the same woman for more than three decades, but there at least ought to be a couple good tales of excess from The Last Waltz days if nothing else). He'd hardly need them, though, as he has something like 40 albums' worth of material to draw from, as well as encounters with just about every leading musical figure of the 1960s on through to today.
