But Jon Hamm's Don Draper gets beat for the fourth (!) time for the best actor award.
ABC sitcom Modern Family cleaned up the comedy section of last night's Emmy Awards, picking up five different statuettes while AMC's Mad Men took home the trophy for best drama. Modern Family won for best comedy, best writing in comedy, best directing, and best supporting actor and actress, shutting out competitors such as The Office and 30 Rock. While Mad Men might have taken the night't top award, Jon Hamm, who plays ad executive Donald Draper on the show, was skipped over again for best actor, losing out to the just-as-worthy-but-come-on-he's-not-Don-Draper! Kyle Chandler of Friday Night Lights. Jim Parsons, who plays uber-nerd Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory, took home his second consecutive award for best actor in a comedy, beating out heavyweights Steve Carrell, Alec Baldwin, and newcomer Louis CK, whose show, Louie, was shut out but should have won all the awards, if you ask us. Somehow, Melissa McCarthy of the CBS sitcom Mike and Molly (it's about fat people) beat out both Tina Fey of 30 Rock and even more remarkably, Amy Poehler of Parks & Recreation for best actress in a comedy. The Daily Show, thankfully, picked up two awards to bring some balance to the otherwise disappointing results.
