NHL Bans Game-Day Tweeting

Aww, but how else are we going to know if the boys really left it all on the ice out there tonight?
The National Hockey League is enacting a new social media policy that will ban players from tweeting on game days. The new policy, which the players' union has signed off on, will prohibit players from posting their mini-missives on Twitter from two hours before the puck drops until after all the media engagements are wrapped up after games. Tweeting during games hasn't been much of an issue in the NHL, but Charlie Villanueva, a basketball player with the Milwaukee Bucks and a former Toronto Raptor, got into trouble two years ago for tweeting his thoughts mid-game. The National Basketball Association similarly banned tweeting during games after the incident, as did Major League Baseball and the National Football League. Hopefully the NHL's Twitter policy doesn't prevent some of its brighter Twitter stars (notably Phoenix Coyotes' enforcer Paul Bissonette, who doesn't really play much any) from running their mouths too much.
