PCs Drop 'Foreign Workers', Move on to Pedophiles

Baby steps, people, baby steps.
It appears as though the “foreign workers” meme in the Ontario election has finally died, as Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak went a full day without once mentioning “foreign workers” or “affirmative action.” So, we move on from rhetoric getting dangerously close to xenophobia to ... Tim Hudak's plans to make the province's sex-offender registry public and to attach electronic monitoring bracelets to dangerous offenders! Now that's the kind of policy that will get this province out of its economic belly flop! But seriously, since the PC's tough-on-criminals stuff is one of the few areas of their platform that's markedly different from the Liberals, and that nearly every economic argument in their platform has been debunked as misleading or outrightly false, they don't have a whole lot else to really get the base motivated. That we consider the Tories' decision to pillory pedophiles and the like as an improvement over their immigrant-baiting is a sad indicator of the level of discourse seen in this election so far.
