Toronto Strippers are Canada's 'Most Intellectual'

One-third of all strippers in Canada's largest city are either college or university students.

If you've ever wanted to discuss the finer points of Kierkegaard while getting a lapdance, Toronto is the place to be. According to the Adult Entertainment Association of Canada, Toronto's exotic dancers (also known as “strippers” and/or “the ballet”) are among the country's most “intellectual,” as a full third of the city's registered dancers are currently enrolled in university or college. Five hundred of the 1,500 registered dancers are students at either Ryerson, York, the University of Toronto, or Humber, Seneca, or Centennial colleges. Not that we'd ever endorse getting into the industry, but students can expect to make $75 for a seven-hour shift (basically minimum wage) plus tips earned from private dances and whatever else it is that goes on in strip clubs. Don't look at us for that answer (...). Plus, with about one in five youth currently unemployed, stripping appears to be one of the few industries with guaranteed work, so long as you don't mind, y'know, taking your clothes off in front of creepy strangers for money.
