A massive new memorial site was unveiled at Ground Zero for the 10th anniversary of the attacks.

It’s a quiet day in the United States as Americans reflect somberly on the largest ever terrorist attack on their nation’s soil. President Obama and Former President George W. Bush stood side-by-side in a moment of silence for the 3,000 lives that were lost a decade ago today. Where the Twin Towers once stood, an enormous national memorial site was unveiled for the victims’ families. At Ground Zero, the September 11th National Memorial featured two one-acre pools with man-made waterfalls where the Twin Towers once stood. They are contoured by bronze panels with the names of the victims engraved. At the Pentagon, 1,600 people gathered at the site of the attack. After somber tributes in New York by Obama, Bush, Mayor Bloomberg, and Paul Simon, a “Concert of Hope” will be staged at the Kennedy Center in Washington.
