Earthquake Hits Vancouver, Nothing Happens.

Rumours of tsunami greatly exaggerated.
A 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Vancouver Island and the surrounding region Friday afternoon, and not a single injury was reported. With an epicentre near Tofino, roughly 300 km west of Vancouver, the “crustal earthquake” caused taller buildings to rumble for bit. Experts say smaller earthquakes are pretty common in the region, though the last one of this magnitude occurred in 2004. As with Toronto’s earthquake last month, people turned to Twitter and Facebook to immediately report that they felt it before it was cool. Little damage is believed to have occurred, though residents have been warned to expect aftershocks throughout the week.
