Queen's Portrait To Be Hung In Every Embassy

Whoever prints those portraits of the Queen must have one hell of a lobbyist.

Portraits of Queen Elizabeth II, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Gov. Gen. David Johnston and “relevant ministers” will now be hung in Canadian embassies around the world. The Department of Foreign Affairs said all embassies must have the portraits up by the end of the week, seemingly to reinforce the fact that we are a nation subserviant to a little old wealthy white lady who lives in castle across the sea. This move follows the recent rebranding of two branches of the Canadian Forces as the Royal Canadian Air Force and Royal Canadian Navy, as well as a decision to replace two paintings by a Quebecois artist at DFAIT headquarters in Ottawa with a portrait of the Queen. Look out, British North America Act and Statute of Westminster – you're on notice.
