Libyan Convoy Enters Niger; Where's Gadhafi?

Never has the term 'political asylum' been so appropriate.
There is much speculation (so much!) over just what a massive convoy of Libyan military vehicles is doing in Niger, with some reports suggesting it could be part of a deal between Moammar Gadhafi and the Libyan rebels to have the dictator find asylum elsewhere in Africa. Between 200 and 250 vehicles were seen crossing Libya's southern border into Niger, while the French government might have brokered a deal that would see Gadhafi end up exiled to Burkina Faso. Gadhafi's whereabouts are still unknown, although his spokesman claims he's still in Libya. Most of his family has already fled for safety in Algeria while the rebel government, the National Transitional Council, goes about pressing the giant restart button on Libya. Granted, all of this is just hearsay and speculation, but if Gadhafi does flee the country, it's a pretty sharp reversal from his claims that the only he would leave Libya would be in a body bag.
