Nope. As the Liberal caucus reconvened today, Rae said the party would instead recover by focusing on job creation.
As Canadians effectively canonized the late NDP leader Jack Layton this week, Montreal's Liberal MP Denis Coderre suggested that a merger with the NDP might be just what is needed to restore the Liberal Party of Canada. But, at the start of a four-day caucus meeting today, Interim Leader Bob Rae and other MPs quickly shot down the suggestion, urging that the Liberal party can make a comeback on its own. Rae said the focus for the party should be on job creation and strategic investments in infrastructure. In a bid to restore its image after a crushing and historic defeat last May, the party has launched a new interactive website, where Rae’s speech can be viewed.
