A New High for Social Networking Sites

A study says social networking teens use more drugs. The remarkable part is that they found teens who were not on Facebook daily for the comparison.
Get ready for the creation of Mothers Against Social Networking: a new study hitting headlines across the world found that teenagers on sites like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter are more likely to smoke, drink, and do drugs. After an online and phone survey of 2000 teens and 528 parents (because really, nobody would ever lie to their parents about their drinking, smoking, or drug habits), researchers found that those who used social networking sites every day were five times as likely to smoke, three times as likely to drink, and twice as likely to do dope than ("the existent") teens who don’t. The same survey also found a correlation between such substance use and watching shows like Teen Mom, Jersey Shore, and Gossip Girl (you know, the good stuff). Their explanation behind both connections? Monkey see, monkey do.
