Yet, in the same survey, more than half of Canadians reported they were doing "a good job" at protecting their privacy.
Canada’s Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart urged Canadians this week to have some common sense when it comes to privacy. According to a telephone survey done by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner this past winter, Canadians are failing to take even the most basic precautions to guard personal information. The study found that only 40 per cent of Canadians are putting passwords on their cellphones, smartphones, and tablets, and that less than a third were even aware that there was a federal privacy agency. The good news? The people who use technology the most (those aged 18 to 34) were also deemed the most likely to protect their private information on personal devices and social-networking sites. Check out the full report to see how privacy concerns correlated with income, gender, and age.
