RIM Developing Music Service?

And only a decade after Apple!

Research In Motion appears to be developing a music service for its BlackBerry smartphones that it could launch within the coming weeks. While RIM has denied rumours, sources tell the Wall Street Journal that “BBM Music” would be integrated into the popular BlackBerry Messenger, in that the 50 songs per month that users would get access to could be shared with their friends on the instant-messaging network. BBM Music wouldn't necessarily compete with other services such as Spotify or the Apple iTunes store, as the concept looks like it's more geared toward social networking via shared music tastes. No pricing details are available yet, but RIM's (really) late entry into the streaming music world seems like a novel update on the time-honoured tradition of sharing mixtapes among friends.
