Ditch Results Blackout, Introduce Online Voting: Elections Boss

Face it: We're lazy and would much rather vote from home than have to go out and mingle with "humans" to vote.
Canada's Chief Electoral Officer Marc Mayrand has tabled his report on the May 2 federal election, in which he calls for the introduction of e-voting and the end of the ban on reporting election results before all polling stations have closed. With voter turnout at a disappointing 61.1 per cent the last time around, Mayrand says testing out online voting could help make it easier for the busy and/or lazy to cast ballots from the comfort of their home. As for the results ban, Mayrand figures such a practice is untenable in a world with Facebook and Twitter, through which people can broadcast results around the world the second they're made available. As it stands, the current policy just criminalizes people who are extremely eager and interested in democracy, so hopefully Mayrand's Tory overlords follow up on some of his recommendations.
