Chiefs in Saskatoon criticize the collaborative effort between Ottawa and the Assembly of First Nations.
Yet another major group of Native leaders has decided not to participate in a national panel on education intended to improve education outcomes for children on reserves. The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) is one of roughly 230 native groups to denounce the panel that was once considered a historic co-operative endeavor between the federal government and aboriginal leaders. The vice chief of the FSIN criticized the panel for consulting an unrepresentative group of first nations to create federal policies that might not align with everyone's belief system. It turns out if you want to publicly announce a major public effort with native leaders, you should probably consult them first.
