Two Tory Cabinet Ministers Have Separatist Ties, Too

And the nation collectively yawns as Anglo columnists and desperate Liberals sharpen their knives for the SeparaTories.
This week's instalment of Bloc Québécois Witch Hunt features Conservative cabinet minister Denis Lebel, who, as it turns out, was a member of the separatist party during its heyday in the 1990s. HANG HIM FOR HIS TREASON! Or not, because we really couldn't care less. We're holding Lebel to the same standard that we held NDP interim Leader Nycole Turmel to (which amounted to a giant shrug that transformed into defence once the Anglo media lost their collective minds over a salient feature of Quebec politics). Lebel says he never took part in Bloc events, which is nice to know, even if it's possible he was a member during that whole separation referendum thingy. Oh, and what's this? Another Tory cabinet minister, Maxime Bernier, was once an adviser to Parti Québécois Leader Bernard Landry?! Again, we don't care (although the Liberals really, really seem to care, which makes them look just a tad desperate). Now, what are the odds the prime minister is going to say he's “disappointed” that two of his closest political allies both had clear ties to separatist parties?
